DECEMBER 2011 NEWSLETTER
As
the tennis season of 2011 comes to an end and 2012 is just around the
corner it's time to reflect upon the results. Will Djokovic, Nadal and
Federer lead the list of winners again or will Murray, Ferrer and Tsonga
be ready to move up into the elite group? Is it the same scenario on the
women's side with Wozniacki, Kvitova and Azarenka leading the winners
list followed by Shaparova, Li and the Williams sisters?
On the local scene will Porter, Blair, Dishington, and Freeberg be ready
to defend their titles or will Lara, Tolbirt, Rodriguez and Reed be
ready to take the next step and claim the titles?
While writing about tennis on the local scene how about the fine showing
of AGHS girls tennis team and the job Coach Hollister and her staff did
this past season? Kudos to all involved. Now it's time to look forward
to AGHS great boys tennis team and their upcoming spring matches.
Coach Hollister has asked me to included the following.
"I'd like to
take this opportunity to thank the local tennis community for their
support at our matches this season. What a tremendous crowd we had at
our girls Quarterfinal CIF match vs. Sage Hill! It was a disappointing
loss, but we are young and can learn a lot from a match like that so
deep into the playoffs. Thank you also for taking in our boys and girls
when you need a fourth or are just looking for someone to hit with. It
is good for the kids to mesh with adults on the court; they learn a lot
about character and sportsmanship. I will look forward to your support
in the spring when our boys are out there. Thank you once
again....Lori."
