JULY 2010 NEWSLETTER

The just completed Wimbledon had  plenty of surprises, not in who won but who played for the championship. Rafael Nadal stopped Tomas Berdych in straight sets for the men's title It was the first time in 8 years that Roger Federer was not around for the finals. One the women's side, the fire returned to the eyes of Serena Williams after a slow start the first week She won the women's title in straight sets over Vera Zvonareva.  And when you think of the 2010 Wimbledon, how can you not think of the longest tie breaker in Wimbledon history, played over three days, finishing with a score of 70-68? Do you think Sam Querry will have limbered up by the US Open?

On the local tennis scene, this is the first call for our 2010 Summer Slam event to be played August 28th and 29th at Soto Park. As a special bonus ALL current Five Cities Tennis memberships will have their entry fee waived in any one class entered. This is to celebrate your 25 plus years of supporting tennis on the Central Coast.  Due to time and space we will have to limit the number of players, so get your entry in early.

Thanks to those who brought the frayed header on the net on Court 4 at Soto Park to our attention. We have now installed a new cap on that net. Just a reminder of your membership dollars at work keeping our courts in tip top shape.
